I waited fours and stepped off in the dust of Tucson.
I saw a roll over with a semi due to the winds. Our bus protrayed ever gust and bellow. A low system was moving through going through the area and I was walking right into this.
A community ride was not to miss, for the fallen and injuried who could not make it. It was massive a motorcade allowed the group to stay together and run red lights. Pedestrains waited and then were told to move back.
Bussiness owners commented on how we killed thier bussiness. Motorists either stared in awe or in anger. The anchor ghost bike rode in the back of a white pick up truck. It was refreshing taking the lane on roads with bike shoulders and crappy bike shoulders. For one hour we ruled the street which forbids such activities. We defy death every day.
I rode in from downtown area on bicycle I used an M.U.P., and some well worn pedestrain bridges. If weather permits I will ride to the boneyard.
My life in the Salt Lake Metro Area with out a car. I don't believe we should ban automobiles, yet at the same time we shouldn't create a transportation caste system, and or abuse using such a great tool. While this will be transportation dominate I will have other posts.

Yep did that too a tee. Not to hot out yet at night. During the day is awful.
Potatoes 98 cents various sizes, 24 oz and 30 oz. I got the hash browns.
The food store is like a little mini holiday. I get home yogurt and fresh oranges. The next few days hurray. Then it is back to oatmeal and jelly sandwiches.

The BO president is town. I wanted to get some food, but the circle route tonight would not due. I foresee a sea of exhaust and spewing motorists. So I took the pleasurable route home and avoided new food for now. Last day of Class. Two more weeks of freedom then back to college.

So I didn't go on my big bike ride due to the heat, but I still managed to get the things I needed, only closer to home. I will postpone this trip till next week. I do need to acquire a few items. Next week I will need to wake up earlier in order to beat the heat.
The temperature was 101 yesterday and 102 today. Can we get 103 on Saturday?
The full moon was a nice touch, and the ride nice and uneventful. The route takes me down a bike Blvd., and there were lots of cars using it for some reason, even a cop car. Normally you don't have motorists using the road. The main road is on the other side of the wall which runs parallel to the bike Blvd.

Weekly Dispatch
Down with the car, people don't like you anymore.
Ok it may take a few more years, but it is starting. People are questioning why they spend so much time behind the wheel going some place. For good reason why?
Here is the article driving less is best.

Need a PSA anoucement to get you in the mood.
Here they cite and arrest people who ride on sidewalks. Granted he had an outstanding ticket on the same thing, but getting arrested when motorists kill at will and walk away?

Stop looking under the couch cushions to pay for gas. Taking transit can save you some real cash. Reoport here
Of course the government won't have this, you must buy a car now you peon.
"Consumers would get vouchers for as much as $4,500 from the government to trade in their gas-guzzling cars under a compromise plan that could help advance a broad measure to combat climate change."
Article here
A run down on the topics.
People are consolidating trips or choosing not to go on these trips, something which car free people do a lot of. You would be amazed how many miles you can reduce by simply doing one trip a day to accomplish everything. (one trip is an out and back no matter how long it takes. )
I suspect car pooling is another major contributer for this reason of less miles.
The Carfree blogs keep churning away there are so many it is becoming a movement I can't keep up with all of them. Real world examples of how to ditch the car. I take the money I save from not owing a car, and spend it on monthly trips out of town. I now go more places than I did with a car HA!
With the weather getting better for most of the nation and worse for others.
I invite you to get out during bike month, and with this PSA ad how can you not. What a wonderful world cycling makes.
This is truly frustrating for me in how the laws benefit someone with a weapon. Leaving the vulnerable person who is doing a great and noble deed by getting out of the car, to be nothing more than road kill.
Here is just one example 5 days in jail for driver under the influence
I really think the government is against transit for some reason? They refuse to give operational funds to help people out. They only will give them infrastructure funding which increases the operational budget. Somehow I don't see how this works in my favor. Even further they give you a 4500 bonus to get a new car. Keep in mind you get no bonus for giving up your car all together.

It is getting back to the 100 degrees. I am not looking forward to this summer at all. I got spoiled last summer by vacating Phoenix. May also starts my fourth year at car free. Yea no need to go back to paying someone else hundreds of dollars a month. I can just hop on the bike.
I found what I want to do with my life, ride a bike around the world. Once I get the money I am so there. It must be liking finding the perfect women I imagine. You spend you days dreaming of the next tour. Where you will go and what you will see.
I am hoping to do this next couple of weeks for a short three day. Se how far I can get before I have to reluctantly come back.
Food will you ever stop bothering me HA.
